Q: Where can I find a working hublist?
A: There are alot of working hublists out there. We recommend you add one or more of the following:

If you got Dc++ 0.401 or later, ApexDC++, FulDC++ or AirDC++ add these XML lists:

If you got DC++ before 0.401 or a client build on a DC++ before version 0.401 add this one:

Q: What's a hublist?
A: Basicly a hublist is a service runned by one or more people to make sure you can find new hubs. It gathers information from the hubs through a HublistPinger which is stored in a database. The at a certain intervall the hublist generates the XML file/files and Config file/files, these config and xml files are what your client translates into the list of hubs on you PublicHublist window.

Q: What's NMDC?
A: NMDC, allso known as Neo Modus Direct Connect is the protocol traffic that most DC clients use. The way the clients and the hub communicates with eachother.

Q: Where can I find a good DC client?
A: There are a few real good clients out there, which you should get is based on what you want in your client. Here are a few of them:

Q: How do I start a hub of my own?
A: First you need a Hubsoft, you can find a list of hubsofts here. Second you will need a DNS allso know as an address, this should be used instead of a ipaddress just in case you change ip you won't loose your users. (NOTE: even people with static ip can change ip from time to time) You can find Free DNSes here and here.

Now you got a Hubsoft and DNS, now you need to configure your hubsoft, you can find information on how to do this on the hubsofts website. When you have configured and started your hub you should try to connect to it. If you get connection refused you should check your settings to see if you got the port you connected to in the hubsoft. If you get connection timeout you should make sure you have rule in your firewall to let the hubsoft send receive traffic or that your router (if you have one) got the ports opened.

Q: Why should I be in active mode?
A: Active users get more search results and can download from more users than passive. Passive users takes more resources from the hubs and therefor alot of hubs have lowered max number of results in a passive search or even turned passive searching OFF. Sometimes when a hub have high load passive users can get disconnected while searching by the hub to save resources.

Q: What is a Search interval?
A: The time in between different searches (or the same search done multiple times) is a search interval.

Q: What does "no slots available" mean?
A: It means that the users you're trying to download from got as users downloading from him/her as he/she got uploading slots. This means you're standing in a queue, how fast youīll get a slot depends on the queue and the users uploadspeed.

Q: What's a router?
A: A device that forwards data packets between computer networks, allso used to share your internet connection with if your isp just gives you one IP.

Q: My searching worked yesterday, but not today. Why is that?
A: First thing you should check is if you have changed IP. If that's not the case and you have a router check if you have changed internal ip.

and compare it to the one you used when portforwarding.

Q: What's an IP?
A: An IP is like an address to your computer, so the computers and routers know what computer that's supposed to receive the information.

Q: What's a Mac-address?
A: The Mac-address is like a serialnumber coded into your networkinterfacecard (NIC) which was added during manufacturing. This number is unique for every NIC out there. In some cases the manufacturer was cheap using same MAC for more than one interface causing the network to have a conflict.

Q: I got wireless internet does this mean i have a router?
A: Yes. Unless you use a GSM / 3G (mobile) internetconnection in that case you donīt have a router.

Q: Does anyone know why i can't download anything anymore?
A: Answer this question first: Did you reset or install a router? Then you should open a port both UDP and TCP
If not check this:
1, Check if you got a new IP.
2, The hub you're in might require a share to download.
3, Check so you donīt have passive mode. (Passive mode doesn't work in all hubs, and passive users can't download from other passive users).

Q: Why should I share something?
A: By sharing something you will contribute to the DC spirit. The more people that share what they download the faster the download speeds will be for the ones download. (if they don't max their downloadspeed already)

Q: How do I get in active mode?
A: Checkout this guide. It will take you through the steps

Q: What's a hub?
A: A hub is a software that sends/receives information and manages connectionrequests between clients. (NOTE: A hub does not handle filetransfers or any other ilegal activitys)

Q: How do i make my downloads going faster?
A: Here are some basic steps:
1, You can use segment your downloads into 30mb files.(Depends on your download speed and the users you download froms upload, slower download/upload smaller segment. 30mb would be good if you have 10mbit download and download from someone with 10mbit upload)
2, You can search for alternates in your queue.
3, If you're maxing your download the only thing you can do is to get a faster connection.
4, Remove the reserved bandwidth in windows XP.
5, Minimize your bandwidth usage in other areas. Don't play online games while downloading, don't browse websites with highresolution images e.t.c.

Q: What's an ISP?
A: An ISP is a company that supply people with an internet connection.
